Goal: Put tracking in place (Google Analytics) to track visitors
Setup a Google Analytics account and install tracking on website

Tracking is essential if you are planning on being successful with your online business.  If you don’t track you won’t know what is working and what isn’t.
The information you can gather with Google’s free tool is amazing.

1.    Go to Google.com and search for Analytics.
2.    Sign in with your gmail account (if you are already signed into your gmail account just click “Access Analytics”)
3.    Click on ‘Add new account’ and follow the instructions
4.    At the bottom of the page click on ‘Add Website Profile’
5.    Make sure the radio button ‘Add a Profile for a new domain’ is selected
6.    Fill in your URL and click ‘Finish’
7.    You now have your code
Now you need to add the code to your website.  If you are using WordPress it is pretty simple – just use a pluging and paste in your UA code.

If you are using a website or Blogger, you need to copy the entire set of code and paste it in the template just above the </body> code.

After you have added the code, go back to Analytics and verify that it is receiving the data.  It will be awhile before you get the actual data but if you have done this correctly Google will find the code.
