Yahoo Day 9 Bookmark/Analytics

Goal: Bookmark Page and check Google Analytics

Pick a different bookmarking service than we did on Day #7 which was Digg and bookmark your website.  Open up your Google Analytics to make sure it is working properly.

Bookmark Site

  1. Setup an account at http://delicious.com
  2. Click ‘Join Now’; you can sign in with a Yahoo account
  3. Review your profile – check display name; link to your account and decide if you want to bookmark with you Firefox browser (you can skip this step)
  4. Click ‘Skip this Step’ and click ‘save a new bookmark’
  5. Paste in your URL (of your website) and click ‘Next’
  6. Fill in the Title (include keyword), Notes and Tags  and click ‘Save’

That’s it!  You have bookmarked with Delicious.

Google Analytics

  1. Go to http://www.google.com/analytics/ and click ‘Access Analytics’
  2. You should see some statistics – even if it is ‘0’ visitors.  If you see a clock or a caution sign then you probably need to see what is wrong.NOTE: Let me repeat, this is second to keywords.  If you are serious about building a business and increasing site traffic you need to know how your website it performing and how different tweaks affect your outcomes.

Does 17% count? My site visits are up 16.94%! I haven’t even added anything to the site, just doing the steps you’ve recommended.
